The Dry Season

May 17, 2011

It is May the 17th and we have not had rain in weeks.  It tried to rain the other night.  Lightening lit up the sky and thunder sent the dogs under the bed, but the rain just about squeezed out a few large drops on the zinc roof and then gave up.  Every morning a bright red sun pushes up over the horizon and tries to see through the hot haze.  The air seems to have a pulse and the trees are aching to bend in a breeze.  At night the moon has a haunted glow and there are rings around it like a coloring page left in the rain.  At night it is hard to breathe the smoke filled air from all the brush fires.  Only a few more weeks until the rain comes.

:o ( Wish I could send some of our rain your way. Earl has been gone for a week on a mission trip to Louisiana with a group of college students from our church, and he is due back home tonight. It has rained a bit every day and the grass in our yard is so high. Not the best welcome home gift, I’m afraid.

Hope you and the family are doing well while Ron is in the states. Heather wrote this week and told me about the oppresive heat there. Bet you wish you were enjoying the cool air of NY with Ron right now! :o /

Do you plan to visit with Candice & Ben and the babies some time this summer. I hope so. I’d love the chance to see you.

Thanks for the word pictures you put on your blog. It helps us stay connected to the beautiful (though hot!) Belize that we love.
